Imagine a Colorado residence rising above some of the finest powder snow in the entire world. Durango ski homes are rare mountain retreats that can place you mere steps away from unforgettable snow-capped views and vertical drop experiences. Close to high-speed lifts, these properties leave you minutes away from peak heights from where you can sail down vast acres of snowfields to views of rivers, streams, creeks or lakes.
At the heart of over 200 miles of perfect trails, ski homes in Durango represent southwestern alpine living in its most dramatic form. Thrill-seekers need never look far for opportunities to ski, snowmobile, dog sled, snowshoe, cross country ski or skate across incredible terrain.
Durango Mountain Ski Resort offers a wide spectrum of ski-in/ski-out townhomes and condominiums, and exclusive home sites with extraordinary views of the ski resort, Needles, Engineer and Spud Mountains. Properties range from small ski-in/ski-out condos such as those located at the Village Center and Eolus, to larger ski-in/ski out townhomes such as Edelweiss and Elkpoint, to custom mountain homes such as those located at The Summit and Engineer Village.
Whether you are looking for a Durango ski home for yourself and future generations of your family, or a smaller first slope-side condo to try out a couple of seasons of world-class skiing, or a potential income-earning property, you will fall in love with this region. The high elevation, low humidity and sun-drenched mountain surfaces combine to produce the most exquisite powder snow on earth – all you have to do is decide whether you should sail, power or carve your way down the many pristine slopes available.
Durango Mountain Resort has a whole new look! Engineer Village, Tacoma Village and Purgatory Village are in their final stages of completion, giving the Resort a grand mountain feel. Along with these new Villages came many new resort amenities, such as additional pools, fitness centers, restaurants, golf packages, concierge services, etc. And, after four years of review, the Forest Service recently approved a slew of additional upgrades to Durango Mountain Resort, to be completed over the next several years. The new lifts, trails and improved snowmaking will greatly improve Durango’s ski experience.
Durango Mountain Resort plans to increase its carrying capacity from 6,850 to 8,840 skiers and snowboarders per day; upgrade three existing lifts and install 10 new lifts; improve four existing trails, add 17 new trails and develop two gladed areas for a total 22% increase in the trail network; and increase snowmaking capacity from 215 to 364 acres.
The resort will also create permanent trails for the Nordic Center and summer horse and adaptive trails across Hwy 550 from the ski area. The new trailhead, summer and winter trails, parking and toilets in the vicinity of the Durango Nordic Center should enhance the experience for Nordic skiers and sleigh riders in the winter, and hikers and guided horseback riders in the summer.
Durango Mountain Resort and the Colorado Wild conservation group have worked together to ensure that the upgrades meet the needs of locals and guests, while also having a limited impact on the natural environment.
